Description | The NASA Tailfan (also known as the Civetta) was an aircraft designed by Andrew Hahn to achieve a 4x reduction in manufacturing cost. This cost reduction was a result of using low cost LS-1 auto engine coupled to a direct drive ducted propeller. The Tailfan was also designed to be very low noise. The aft portion of this vehicle was built full-scale by Munro and Associates, and tested for static thrust and noise results. |
