What does the source quality score mean?

The source quality score is a quick and objective way to measure the level of overall quality of the model and the information used to create it. When users upload a file, they are asked to rate their model based on the descriptions below (1 is the best, and 5 is the worst).

1. Definitive
The VSP model is the definition of the vehicle or part (this is the best source of information available).
2. Essentially Exact
Detailed dimensions and drawings were used to create the model.
3. Good Representation
Good 3-view drawings were used to create the model.
4. Inaccurate
Photos and drawings were used to create the model but few dimensions were available.
5. Completely Inaccurate
The creator thought of the vehicle or part as he or she made it but did not use pictures, drawings, or dimensions.

Uploading Files

In order to upload files, you must be a registered user of the VSP Hangar and be signed into your account. To upload a file, simply click the "Upload" link in the navigation bar at the top of window, or click the "Upload Files" button on the home page.

Upload Page

After clicking one of the links, you are directed to the upload page. This page has several different required fields (indicated by an "*") and several optional fields.

X3D Override Options

Under the X3D file options you can upload a custom X3D file to be displayed on you model's page. If you do not upload a X3D file, one will automatically be generated for the default display state. To generate you own X3D file for a different display state, simply export a X3D file from VSP.

Revised Version Options

The revised version fields should be filled out if you are uploading a different version of a previously uploaded file. To find the ID# of the original file, visit that file's page. The ID# is displayed in the top row of the table on the right side of the page.

Basic Search

The basic search field is located at the top of the home page and the results page. The basic search will return all files that have a display name, year, units, or tag matching any of the words entered. If you leave the search field empty, all files in the database will be returned. The results from the search can then be narrowed down using the filter options on the left side of the page. Simply check the options you wish to filter by and click the "Filter Results" button.
