Description This is a fairly accurate representation of the AR = 12 version of a wind tunnel model tested in the NASA-Langley 14x22 wind tunnel as part of the Energy-Efficient Transport (EET) Program. The VSP model was built using the planform parameters, airfoils, and fuselage cross sections from NASA TM-80048 and NASA TM X-71996. Wind tunnel results are documented in NASA TP-1580. Use variable presets to switch between stowed, takeoff, and landing flap positions. Sets are defined for high lift, climb, and cruise configurations. See also AIAA 2015-1679 and AIAA 2016-0779.
Source Quality

2 - The source material used to create this model was Essentially Exact. This means detailed dimensions and drawings were used to create the model.

Model Suitability
  • 1 - Check internal layout/volume
  • 1 - Build a display model
  • 1 - OML for wetted areas/drag buildup
  • 1 - Cartoon or Pretty Picture
  • 2 - Accurate OML for detailed aerodynamic analysis or CFD
